Your Thoughts on GD Cuff title

Hi WAF experts,

Because I'm not a cuff title expert in anyway, I'm curious to know if this cuff title is authentic? This is the only picture I have of this CT. Any assistance will be appreciated. Thank you, Steve

I could not say if it is good or not, but sure looks ok IMO....
What is it on Steve, I know you say you have no other photos of the CT but do you have photos of the Tunic or sleeve?

Hi Steve,
From these pictures, it appears to be an original to me. There is some variation with these as they were all hand embroidered, but generally speaking, it looks to have the proper original characteristics, and would be worth a chance.

Hi Steve,
The additional cufftitle doesn't alter or influence my opinion at all. They are all slightly different because of the variences in hand embroidery.
All I can say is that it appears to have a good chance of being original, but cannot say for sure with just this picture.
As with all purchases, if you cannot get a return policy, walk away.

I can offer no expertise on originality of this cuff title.

However the flow of writing on some letters is odd.

It does look like the embroiderer copied the writing without being familiar with the flow of written Sütterlin.


The "ß" should flow like that ... the "t" has an extra tail:

Look at the "d" the flow of the letter appears to be like this: when it should be like that:

The "e" is odd as well: it looks more like an "n"



Are there original GD cuff-titles with these peculiar writing anomalies?

Steve the thread on the embroidery seems very loosely done compared to the second one. Very much like Naxos is saying, looked like some one copied it. jacques

There is allot of variations with these unfortunately. Scott's book has the best side by side comparisons for these I have found to compare. Tough call about this one and I am not willing to gamble. Great Sütterlin lesson Naxos.
