In other words, there comes more to it then only to check whether it once had a breast eagle or not.

I can therefore imagine that many among us with '3-angle SS tunics' in their possession (that of course can still be legitimate), will somehow reluctantly follow this discussion...

    Absolutely agreed.

the theory is holding and so far we havent seen 1 single Heer Jacket with "2 angles" lining.

The thread on the wss forum, ref link post 1, has become a very interesting and convincing read and so far the amount of believers of this theary is growing.
It's also very logical as only the M44 type tunics show no production differences between WH and WSS.
All previous model tunics show some production differences.
Pleased to see that some unknown new ground has been broken here!

This Heer M41 tunic appears to have the '2-angle' lining though: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...75#post5018775

Fooled me at first too! Here's another one!
3 step Heer but 1 angle is covered with 1st aid pocket!
No Heer 2 angle liners have surfaced. I don't thing we need to call this 2 angle SS a theory any more...

Let's give this thread one more try. Is there any Heer tunic with the 2-angle lining?

There are other differences between a "Heer" M40 and an "SS" M40, but I'm not at liberty to disclose them at this time. Sorry, gents

So this is a legit difference 2 step (SS) versus 3 step (WH)...not just a theory , so you concur and (note yellow)
furthermore there are ALSO other differences between a "Heer" M40 and an "SS" M40,

like the shorter cut, horizontal first aid pocket button slit, (as opposed to vertical), and wider collar to accomodate SS tabs, but in addition MORE differences even???
                      which you can not disclose?

Plse vbergman1 give us the details you have found!!!!
NickG already mentioned his findings so far.

Or better can someone take both types and examine them closely for the forum? I unfortunately do not have a WSS cut M40 in my collection.

PS wonder what one will do if you find WH (re)badged jacket but in this WSS cut M40 in your collection....

this keen-eyed theory seems to be holding water. clearly it is possible it will cause panic for owners of upgraded army to ss items, as the post-war re-badged possibility grows stronger. dealers' authenticity guarentees may be evoked, too, as this fact gains approval in the collecting community, and as folk find what lies in their collection 'isnt real'.

Yes, there are a few more minor differences, but they are quite subtle. I think it's best not to broadcast ALL the gritty details, at least not at this time.

Now, how about the SS M42 vs the Heer M42? Anyone have any differences to report?
