    A truly battle-worn tunic

I will post over the next day’s more pictures of this tunic.

The tunic belonged to Leutnant Heinrich Wahrheit. Leutnant Wahrheit was severly wounded by shrapnel to the back, neck and left arm. The jacket was cut open on the back and sleeve (both all the way down) by the attending medic on the battlefield. After Lt. Wahrheit's wounds were dressed the jacket was put on him to keep him warm. Lt. Wahrheit was taken to a dressing station and then evacuated by air to a hospital. Heinrich Wahrheit recovered from his wounds and became a public school teacher. He retired in 1979. Somehow he kept the tunic, as a lucky charm I guess, for the rest of his life.

The cuff of the left sleeve has a lot of dirt still on it.

              Great tunics Naxos and Nick.

Naxos, what is the waffen farbe on the officers boards? They look to be signals on my screen.

Paul, they are Light Green, just sun-faded around the edges

That is some awesome set. I cannot see all of the pics because I am at sea and the net sucks so badly that the photos may only partially come up, if at all. What I can see, I love!

I like these, both have a great look and obvious history!
                      I hope to see more...

                        Lucky

Very nice jacket and I actually believe the story behind this one. He is lucky to have made it home.

                          Naxos...

One of the best tunics shown on this forum.

I would take that tunic over a mint unused one any day.

If you ever plan on selling it, let me know

Yes, very sweat, this one leaves no doubt. Great that it has not only a story to tell, but also a story to back it up!

Interesting that although he stripped the tunic of it's insignia (what happened all the time of course) and probably stored them in a cigar box, he still decided to keep it. These battle weary tunics are for obvious reasons therefore the most impossible kind to find nowadays.
