signal patches branch colored

Although I have been collecting for 15 years, I got a simple(?) question I had no answer too:

Why are the Heer signal patches branch colored (why not LW?), while other trade- or special career insignia are not?

Some regulation that gives the answer?

All Heer trade badges are specific and relate (for the most part) to a single branch. You would not see a horse shoer in the Panzers as you would not see a Fortress Pioneer in the cavalry. They are specific to their branch and do not require "color coding". Radio operators transcend all the specialties as they are found in practically every branch. That's why Signal Blitzen are found in (just about) every waffenfarbe. By the way, Luftwaffe blitzen come in red for Flak. They are not that common.
