    POA Special Issue Overcoat

This is one of the rarest foreign volunteer items: the M43 POA overcoat (this coat type was discussed here for those that want to read about them http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...&highlight=poa .

Unlike the badged-up easter foreign volunteer stuff making the rounds, this overcoat is constructed entirely from the distinctive blue-grey wool used exclusively for POA troops. The shoulderstrap loops on these are wide, almost twice as wide as conventional German overcoats, to accomodate the broad tongues on the POA boards. A shield or insignia had been attached to the lower right sleeve, and is now missing. Buttons are the late war blue-grey.

It has Turkistan volunteer boards that perfectly match the overcoat in terms of wear, and look original to the coat (though with slip-ons, who knows for sure). The artificial silk liner has the typical size stamps one would expect to see in this; the coat is about a medium US in size.

Best of all - this was no barracks baby. It was actually worn and saw use. It looks as though a field repair or wound point is present on the right shoulder; the liner was cut away at this point and a neat but visible field repair carried out on the shoulder area. Really gives it character.

The overcoat was a Cossack hallmark garment - and this one is the no kidding special style issued only to the eastern volunteers. If you are lucky enough to have the tunic that matches this overcoat, then don't miss this - the last one I got was being sold for 1500 USD. This one is more affordable - and you won't find another in a long time.

    750.00 USD
