I think these are fakes, They were sold to me as a pair of SS Standartenfuhrer tabs. What I have been told on this forum was Sr SS tabs were woven, and my reaserch has proven this out to be true. However I see that Standartenfuhrers in the SA, used a metal insignia. These used to be silver but in my youth used to polish it, There is a RZM marking on the inside but no #'s. I belive from what I have read and seen Black tabs would indicate a Berlin unit? The black material is very soft. Once again I have no reason to belive these are real, however you just never know till you ask. Thank you in advance, and all critiques are welcome

tabs
Thanks Laurens! Actually I'm Erich-SA at the GDC but 'Erich' here.
Yes, these are a style commonly used by the SA. From the scans they look fine, but to be sure they require scrutiny of the fabric and piping. The leaves look okay to me.
I'm sure you already know, but it's not a good idea to take the leaves off--the prongs will usually only bend 2x or so and then they may break!

The only part that would be a concern under UV is the core of the piping. If the white core does not glow, that would be a very good sign. Otherwise, it's just a matter of making sure the wool background is a right type of fabric, which is hard to do unless you've handled SA tabs or have others to compare it with.
