Any idea what the II stand for in this stamping M43 / II ? Were there possibly 2 depots in that area?

Wrap markings;

Always took that "II" to be the wear grade of the garmet with "I" being dress quality & "IV" being a fatique type garment. "II" a better & "III" is a lesser field wear Grade garmet. Best I can explain. Dirk

But this make no sense with wraps. Wraps were only supposed to be worn in the field.

This would be the case with for example the Berlin depot markings: B.I or II.year... in this case I think it is indeed something Dirk is mentioning. Definitely need a refreshment myself on this.

Yes I have only seen it on earlier panzer items such as a wrap B39 II and panzer cap B40 II.

for instance, lining looks interesting for scrutinization, considering the date "43" on a feldgrau wrap.

Yes I have a few pictures, just quick ones I did last night. It was a POW wrap for sure, as eagle, tabs and shoulderboard loops were removed.
I just laid my insignia on it for show of how I would like to restore it. The cap is an m42/43 conversion that was owned by the same soldier. It was purchased from the soldiers grandson. If anyone has 3 shell buttons about the size of a dime I am looking for them to restore the wrap.

no Jerry, my fault, i should have asked with more precision :
having it in hands, is the lining material made of rayon, or another type of material ?
i just ask, because i can't say for sure, on your last pics, it looks more "yellowish" than what i usualy observe for this marterial.
maybe a flashlight effect ?
btw, the wrap looks ok.

Yes it is the flash that makes it look more mustard yellow color. It is the rayon lining, it is more of a gray color. I will try to take a picture of it in natural light when I get home.

The fabric is the same as many RAD tunics. The stamp looks look like M 43/II ?
