Just a quickie-Any ideas as to the use of these belts?

these guys are Fuerwehr so those belt are tool belt ( for example for axe ).

Actually those belts are meant to secure (boung themself) to the ladder or so, to prevent from falling down.

German word is "Hakengurt" or "Staigergurt".
