    odd m44

w petz flags up the m44 in his recent pic of this nicely captured heer trooper-but note the oddity-either its a rare m44 variant with scalloped flaps, or else its a modified m42... thanks to w petz for its original inclusion...

Also odd is the Removed collar tabs? Perhaps the pocket flaps are a personal up grade or the flaps were recycled from a un restorable tunic returned from the front during production? or as you state recycled M42 turned into a 44....
    Great photo Bill!

Actually this one almost looks like a M45 tunic! The pocketflaps seem to be a fraction smaller and the pocket buttons would have been added as a personal touch, but still...? For a M42 converted tunic the frontal closure buttons are lined up incorrectly. The missing breast eagle could indicate POW although the photo appears to be made in a prof. studio?
Could be a very rare photo!!
Illustrated a similar (SS) tunic that I recently offered on E-stand.

          Sure this is German

          Gentleman

Are we sure the one in the picture is a WWII German uniform??????

Those are pointed shoulder boards as far as I can see. Is a "bird" on the jacket visible?????

At the bottom of the jacket (left side of the buttons) are some details visible which almost look as if there is metal buckle or something like that.

Perhaps the details are better visible on the original picture.

          regards

          Eric
