    Waffenfarbe/unit help

Hi guys, I need your help on this one please..

I think the board is dirty artillerie, but I am not so sure on the slip on. You can see from the back side it is definetly not arty red.. what do you think? any units that match up with the number?

    Thanks in advance

The numbers look like dirty and faded panzer pink and there is no match for an Artillery unit with "562"- Only Panzerjager Abt 562

I have really basic info from the Tessin books- Formed in April 1945 from PzJg. Abt 1562 served as part of VGD 562. The other options might be LW Flak units, they did use field gray slides as well.

No but the color of thread like that will fade and vary greatly even more so than piping, there is a chance it was red and was washed etc. Pink is the best fit but I am not sure that if they were surrounded when the unit was formed in April 1945 if they would bother with insignia. Maybe.

I would suspect it was Panzer, since they were encircled maybe they had plenty of time to do stuff like this.

A unit forming that late would not use these slides , as they would have been abolished years before , correct ? I'll try to check my unit book. jeff

Choices for that number based on the Tessin books are pretty limited, two Bau units- Starssenbau Btl 562 and Baubattalion 562, the Panzer Jaeger Abt mentioned and that is it the rest are infantry, medical and transport and two LW Flak units.

Slides were worn openly in the field until the end of the War after early 1944.

It does look kupfer brown on the outside were it is worn and faded but on the inside it is definetly more pinkish..

                              More pinkish than bau aswell..
