Untouched stuff is out there... I'm starting to see OLD collections from closet collectors coming out onto the market. This is usually direct vet stuff (Dad, Uncle, Neighbor) and not the humped up dealer stuff that was happening even back in the 70's.

Collectors are dying and things are now being sold.

Towards humped up tunics, it is actually really difficult to correctly apply NCO tresse with modern household sewing machines. When it is faked it usually is hand applied or done so poorly it is obvious. Most the older humped up jackets had cuff titles and Foreign Vol. patches added and GJ etc, things that were simple to do. I did not start to see sophisticated fakes until the early 80s.

Nice issue EM jackets in good shape with original insignia are worth more and are in greater demand than NCO tunics from what I have seen. I never really noticed or thought a lot of them were being faked over the years, maybe I am wrong.

NCO's are rarer and therefore more money, so dealers have been adding tresse for years to make that extra buck. I myself prefer untouched EM tunics but coming across a rare untouched M42 NCO that is a one-looker made my day! It's the only NCO I have because I don't trust ones from dealers.
