Looks like an original coat. Turn the inside pocket inside out and look for markings there.

wehrmacht winter mantel ,waffen ss has a m44 coat with hood and the same side pockets,but without french cuffs.

I cant't find any examples with these things other than 44

It' so called WACHTMANTEL - this one is from mid to late war period because of the large collar. As Chris said ; you should look in inter pocket for markings.
