        The buttons are typicaly French and the trousers do look more French than German ...

            I agree French based on buttons and yes could have been German used...
            Not just armed forces, perhaps even OT used?
            OT-atlantikwal workers were issued all kinds of French beute work garments...
            Readily available locally and suitable for fatigue duty!! So nice for an OT impression!

                I have got the same pair of buttons on the pockets of my Sumpftarn trousers.
                Nice little feature IMO.

                  but those trousers posted are pre-war French not French made for the Germans .
                  Unless there is a big old OT reception stamp on them it is pure speculation to associate them with the German armes forces or the Org Todt.
                  Actually since they are in such good condition we can be quite confident that never a cabbage induced germanic fart went through the gusset ...
