            It looks pretty good. The question is always when was the standard bearers patch attached, since they are plentiful? It is near impossible to tell, but the sewing method is tailor quality with a hidden whip stitch, and could very well be original. The rank is proper for standard bearers and the Krim shield appears to be sewn by a different hand, these were often attached by the soldier's themselves, so it all fits well. Congratulations!

                Hello rove:
                Very nice, even though I don't collect FT items, just the flags. Artillery
                red, by the flag numbers, was the second most common made unit flag.
                So also maybe the same goes for the red Fahnentrager tunic patches too.

                [trager patch color/unit type] ......... [and the number of flags]:
                Lemon Yellow = Signals -----------> 67 swallowtail standarten
                Red = Artillery ---------------------> 251 swallowtails
                White = Infantry -------------------> 59 swallowtails, 290 fahnen
                Pink = Panzer/Panzerabwehr------> 115 swallowtails
                Gold-Yellow = Cavalry -------------> 35 swallowtails
                Black = Pionier --------------------> 32 swallowtails, 39 fahnen
                Lime Green = Schutzen ------------> 1 swallowtail (II./Sch.Rgt.1)
                Grass Green = Jager/Gebirgsjager -> 25 fahnen
                Copper Brown = Recon -------------> used pink or g-yel swallowtails
                Light (Powder) Blue = Transport ---> 12 swallowtails
                Boreaux (Wine) Red = Nebelwerfer (rarest) ---> 4 swallowtails

                PS/ A Heer gorget with your tunic will IMO make it look even better.

                  Rove,

                  If you know for a fact that the former owner was the standard bearer, then your tunic bears that out. It would be great if he was able to provide you a photo of him in it just for yourself, if nothing else. Still congratulations!
