    German Gorget luminescence question

I understand these should glow in the dark. What materials were used in WW2 to enable that.

    Radium

Radium was used in these gorgets. I think the half life of Radium is the longest of any of the Radioactive elements, we will be long dead when these things stop glowing. Radium is a metal. wfg

      Radium & Gorgets

Dallas, The half life of Radium is 1620 years, and it is not used in the U.S. anymore for watches etc as it is a proven to cause Cancer, Radium is used in Medicine, Ie. treatment ot some cancers.. So your Gorget will be glowing for at least another 1500 years...wfg
