Hi Philipp, I know it is an amaizing tunic. I got it from straight out of the woodwork. I love the eagle zig zag application, look at it, the tunic was so used that Y-straps or backpack straps have ruined the eagle at the edges.

I really like the LW HG bluse and the M-43 officer's field tunic. I doubt that I have seen the board covers (that I knew were right) on more than one or maybe two other officer tunics since looking for such things in the early 70's....those on yours are right as they can be.


I proabably would not want everything in my collection to show heavy use and wear.....but I certainly would not want everything un-issued or just best dress either.....it's all a matter of preference and no right or wrong IMO......but a collection mixed with items showing heavy use and others that are mint is an interesting contrast that both categories to their best advantage.

These covers are one of those types of items that you can see in very many wartime from the front photos, but almost never see in existing items...and I understand why as they would have been removed by almost everyone along the way assuming the fairly rare cases where actuall combat worn tunics were actually retained as war trophies.

The converse are the things that we never or hardly ever see in period photos but are pretty common to encounter. The lack of photos does not (in itself) make these things less real....but maybe harder to convince some of their originality.
