as it is reworked EM tunic,for sure here was one em eagle befor offzier eagle was added.

Still the tunic looks like it has been reworked by a tailor (sewn in shoulderboards, nice intake on the back). If tailor reworked, they might have done a better job on the eagle and depending on when the eagle was replaced I would not expect the difference to be so clearly visible. Then again it may have been worn longer as an NCO tunic and only later converted to an officer tunic - more reason however to place the new bullion eagle over the outline of the previous one. But if it is a former NCO tunic we would also have to see marks of a previous NCO braid or lacking that a replaced collar. Speaking of the collar, the Litzen on the left is awfully crooked which is also a bit odd for a tailor reworked tunic. Although I very much like the tunic and its fresh color, I have some question marks on it being completely untouched. That or I am over critical.

Company -field- tailors (the one that likely has handled this particular tunic); worked with different standards then your random city tailor..

Please also compare with the officer tunic I posted in #125...also an EM upgrade, never was a NCO tunic.

The Gebirgstunic you refer to in posting 125 is a nice consistent tunic - no eagle upgrade, slip ons, and straight Litzen. The one we are discussing now lacks these consistencies and has some odd upgrades (nice insignia not so good tailoring on eagle and Litzen, but fine tailoring on intake on the back and sewn in boards) which are somewhat inconsistant. Although as I stated before I like it, I question it being untouched.

..it's very likely of course, that the breasteagle is one of those that was kept in the breast pocket after the war had ended and was sewn own later (being it almost "untouched")...difficult to tell from the pics, perhaps the owner can? For sure some moths have fancied it though.

Hello, all great tunics. Here is one of mine and I think it can pass for a well worn combat tunic/jacket. A Luftwaffe Officers elect heated velour lined flight jacket. I obtained this from a fella about 25 years ago and it was brought home by his father, ETO Vet. He told him he got it in early 1945 when a fighter was shot down and glided in for a landing nearly right in front of him. For one reason or another he took it home. All my favorite features of a combat used Luft flight jacket. Typical control stick wear on the back of the right elbow down to the cuff. Belt and fabric wear on the right waist bottom as worn down from hopping into the cockpit striking and stressing that area. Has faint outline upper back from seat and harness wear. Officer shoulder board buttons and yellow frags of stitch down. My favorite.. Best, Bill

I just want to give an answer about the sewn eagle on my presented jacket. I unfortunetely have no information why this eagle is so badly sewn. As the officer who wore this uniform passed away a few years ago, I cannot ask him. His son-in-law thinks the jacket has been damaged when he was wounded and that the eagle has been resewn after. Where and when ?

Impossible to say. I know only that this guy was about two years in different hospitals. I was operated four or five times. After leaving hospital, he was student. So, was this a temporary reparation ? Has there been another eagle under the one presented ? I really do not know...
