    Some KM gear in dufflebag

Found these in north germany last week, seems to be a kriegsmarine duffle bag with stencilled name and number, no other markings, inside was a converted tropical jacket, was a 4 pocket but has been shortened and elasticated , then a white naval work shirt, 1939 dated and a blue jumper, looks like a sweat shirt of some kind. All comments are welcome regarding these items, Pete.

Anyone recognize the tropical jacket? Not Kreigsmarine....

Looks Luftwaffe produced, but no eagle...pretty nice short waisted jacket. Maybe early post war production from wartime materials?

Jacket is Luftwaffe tropical, with eagle and lower pockets removed, shortened, and a waist adjustment set-up applied (tunnel with ties) to create a short civilian looking jacket.

Every Luft Tropical I have ever seen had pleated upper pockets and I've never seen that color lining on one. Heer late-war Sudfront?

I believe you are right about the pleats (though I have seen blue lining in Luft models). There was a similar Heer Sudfront tunic with the same lining as this one discussed several months ago.

The burning question I have (because I have something similar):

I know shortening of tunics was common in WW2 for fashion purposes but what about the addition of that "waistband"? Was that an addition during the period or post-war?

That John is a question I would like an answer to, as I have a modified luftwaffe tropical tunic and one of them is the addition of a waist adjuster.

An interesting tunic, and probably late war sudfront seems most likely to me.

                              Jerry
