Is it German or Italian?

I have tried to post photo's but just can't accomplish the task. A deceased 88'th division vets daughter found an item in his footlocker and she's curious of its orgin. The item is a rabbit fur vest with button front. The vest has an ink stamped factory or issue number.
The vet was in recon. and spent most of his time in Italy. The daughter would like to know if possible what army it came from.

Sounds like a variation of one of these and in that case it would be German.
