Green piped tabs with skulls. Any idea?

I got these tabs about 20 years ago for very little money.
I would like to know your opinions about them, ie if they are original and (if really ever existed!) what kind of units adopted them. Polizei's armoured units? Panzergrenadiere?
    The skulls are not magnetic.
I've been looking around on web for a while but never found anything similar: No originals, nor copies

Nice piping, they look good to me.

What they are? No clue ...

Supposedly for the police Stug wrapper, but I never believed they were used during the war.

Id say pz gren myself. One of the members here posted a pic of a wrapper he has with just the tabs with green pipping and no skulls. A set I would love to have! Thanks for posting these rare beauties! Matt

Matt, do you know if the thread about that wrapper is still online, I'd like to see how the complete uniform looks like

The green piping looks a little dark for Police. The police did use this style, contrary to popular sentiment on this forum, although I'm sure it was quite limited. The originals I have seen differ as both pair are on black background base materials with police green piping. One pair is on a black officers wrap (not the one in the German Police Vol. #2 book), the other on a police stug. I do not care for the wrap (converted Heer IMO), or it's tabs in the book. I did not care for that stug wrap with this style tabs also pictured.

I would expect a field gray background to be police field green though. I have never seen an original police stug wrap in any wool material except their own (also denim). I suppose they could have been used on a Police camo wrap, and that is what I would suspect they were on, or intended for.

Is the green lighter to the naked eye, I assume the tabs were scanned?

Yes the tabs were scanned in order to get good details. Il will make other pictures with a camera, to render a more correct idea of the piping shade

Those type insignia was used by StuG’s crews in Panzergrenadierdivisionen.

                  Best regards

                    Thanks Generalmajor

Here's another picture made with the natural light. It's a bit fuzzy but gives a good idea of the actual colour of the piping. I placed a couple of notes in order to compare the shades at best

                      Its on page 3 http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...=499010&page=3

The color of the ones on the wrapper is lighter and a true pz. gren color where yours are a bit darker but still oh so sexy. Matt

I am not convinced on the originality of these...I have my doubts.

If originals and they have good chances in my opinion, I vote for jaeger tabs.

                            Green piped tabs

I have doubts about these tabs. I do not like the green thread used to sew them together, especially since it can be seen on the front of the tab.

Guys can I ask for a little more detail about why several members don't like these? I know about little to nothing about these types of tabs. I would like to know for my personal knowledge level as I have always really loved the STUG tabs. Matt
