The pockets that expanded tended to be for field use uniforms. Those that did not/were sewn down tended to be service dress.

Hi guys. Tell me please until which period uses such combination of insignia like on the my photo? In the book of Jorg Horman " Uniforms of the infantry"1989 page 90 shown a period photo dated 1943, where pictured a soldier with early five-cornered shoulder straps? Is it possible?

I can not see your photo but you will see photos from the end of the war of prisoners wearing feldbluse boards. If this is an m36 tunic then these boards could be correct (I guess it is a matter of preference). They are just an earlier type board. I have seen period photos of m43 tunics with feldbluse boards on them. Though this is not the norm... I wish I had one to post but I do not.

            Hello Sergey,
The issue is that any combination of insignia was possible. Factories would use what ever insignia was available at the time. Many of the M36 type tunics you see in collections were used by the individual soldier as a walking out tunic, and as such was often modified by the user. Often, the soldier would take a later period tunic and dress it up by putting a dark green collar on it and earlier insignia. So, you have a comparision between a textbook factory issued tunic with time period correct insignia and soldier modified tunics. Therefore, any combination of insignia may be found on tunics. The issue is, is the insignia original period sewn to the tunic.
            Best regards,
            Curtiss

This picture may make this clear.

                Directly from the vet.

btw ... the eagle was removed when I got the tunic.
