Luft Eagle...real?

This was one of my pre-WAF purchases and I never had it properly assessed...I'd welcome opinions on authenticity...

Luft Eagle...real?

It looks like a good M43 Cap Eagle to me, if the size is right. How wide and how high is it? Can you take another pic with a dime or a quarter next to it? Is the background black or gray?

The reason I asked about the background color is that the standard issue Luftwaffe M43 Cap Eagles had a bluish/gray background and the Hermann Goring Panzer Division M43 Cap Eagles had a black background. See:

Which will explain what I mean.

So unless I'm wrong, it appears that you have the much harder to find and more expensive Hermann Goring Division M43 Cap Eagle. Congrats!

Here are two eagles for comparison.

The top eagle is said to be a HG eagle, and there is no question that it is black.

The bottom eagle is a standard Luft that is darker blue and without a comparison could appear black under dimmer lighting, but there is no doubt about the black color on a the top eagle.

Ahhh....thanks for the comparison! Mine is not black like that....it has to be the blue one. Still, if it's real, I'm happy...I paid $10 for it at a flea market last spring.

IMO probably about 75% of all black backed eagles in collections and those seen for sale, are for Luftwaffe mechanics uniforms and not Hermann Göring.
