It's an early EM panzer waffenrock! I like it!

It's in fact an old-style tunic in the Reichswehr pattern.

I believe your collar patches are made from silver wire which gives that tarnished appearance. I have a similar tunic with artillery waffenfarbe and aluminium wire insignia which has remained very bright.

I like your tunic very much. I'd make an effort to replace the breast eagle correctly.

Nice Reichswehr-era tunic - you don't see many of these piped in pink.

I agree it is RH does it have 6 buttons with one hiding under the belt? If it has an additional button it is the 1928 pattern, if it has five it may be an enigma or a later copy of the earlier style. The unit was not formed until late 1938 so that might be a possibility. The dress tabs are a pre WH style that date to the late 1920s. They are "padded" and there probably is cotton wadding under them to improve appearance by raising them off the collar.

The eagle can be restored in 30 minutes, just need a salty early example that matches the wear of the jacket. If it is done correctly no one will be the wiser. At least everything else is there and appears period applied. IMO probably 80% of the tunics that remained in Germany had eagles removed. Almost all the items sold as "untouched" tailor tunics have replaced eagles based on what I see. No worries

Thanks for posting the photos Johnny! I usually shy away from links due to the porn pop ups and all that caome with them LOL!
That is a real sharp tunic that as Johnny mentioned could be restored nice like with a decent Eagle!
Did you get anything else like photos of it in wear or the vets history from the family Panzerregiment3?

Great looking tunic. I have an example from the same unit. I wonder if "my" guy and "your" guy knew each other.

I also recieved a Fotoalbum with his comlete Warstory including POW. but he never weared this tunic above on the fotos. Many fotos in early black wrap before the war or an normal M36 at Manöver as Gefreiter 5./Pzrgt 3. Later in Südfront uniform as Hauptgefreiter and late war with M43 as Stabsgefreiter. Later in the war he was personal driver of Oberst Grampe 1.PZ/Div. as me was told. POW in Jugoslavia....

Very very nice, this is the first RH style of piped service tunic with the 8 button front. "Panzerkaserne Bamberg" where the unit was based is still there and renamed Warner barracks, I was there in the 1980s.
