I saw at a recent show a hat similar to this but it was in red? Do you have a photo of the inside of the hat? I was tempted to purchase this hat, but not knowing anything about it or its originality I decided against it. The price was around $800-. Also, there are amazing fakers in Ukraine, Russia, Baltics, so I did not know if this is a heavily faked Item. Would seem easy to do, take your old grandpa's hat, through on some old nco tress and pin on an eagle...

      Thanks,

Here you go.... and to answer your question regarding reproduction, since this piece is for sale at Manion's, I would assume that it most likely is repro, but sometimes a rose is found amongst the thorns......

I do not have the experience to pass judgement.

        cheers

Not 100% sure but that cap looks pretty good.. The different colors on the tops of the caps are for the different type of cossack. Blue would be for Terreck cossack..
The Wrap was discussed on GDC. The POA shield is bad and the collar tabs are not POA nor are they matching to the rank of the shoulder boards.. , G.

The tunic looks fake - whenever they write "tailor made" - this is usually an excuse for not having any stamps. Also as mentioned before - collar patches are totally wrong. + Another red flag from remarcably great condition.

you wrote: "I do have some foreign volunteer boards, and foreign volunteer luft boards as examples, but no POA ones"

Which other foreign volunteer boards do you have? Anything on Ukraine by any chance?

I wish I had some from Ukraine, My grandfather is from a little town in Galicia (which over 500 14 division w-ss soldiers are burried in a mass grave across from my aunts house) and I would love to have some Ukrainian items, but they are very scarce. I only have the metal cap badges with the ukrainian colors. I have the usual wide pointy boards in red and blue for the volunteers, and then I have two different luft boards, but am not sure what type of volunteers they are for? Has the 2 strips of tress going through the middle of the board.

My grandfather's friend is still alive in NY and Ukrainian w-ss officer from the 14th division, but he will not talk about it. I would love to see if he has any photos, patches, etc... but considering how he got out after the war I would presume nothing remains. All I know is that he threw his uniform in the river.

Can you post some of the pictures of the Luft boards that you have - they sound very interesting. Am having the same problems - my uncle was actually a Rotenfuhrer in the division - but won't share any of his goods

I will try to post a photo tomorrow. I will have to do it as a link.

Good luck on your uncle. They are all very secretive about their history. They still think they will be persecuted 60 years later, and possibly they will. It is crazy...
