There is a set for sale right now on a fair priced dealers site for basically the same type of jacket for a Jr. infantry officer for IR 55 with the tunic only and trousers for $1300 USD. I think that is what they are being offered for. I would buy jackets like this all day for 600 US.

If he wants to sell it for less wonderful. You seem to be trying to use the forum to knock him down in price. That does not work well.
Not at all Johnny you missed understood me. Price is already agreed. There was the authenticity matter pending. I always start discussions before buying something. I want to be 100000% sure
I just had the artillery waffenrock in mind, that's why i was asking.

The tunic is original as we noted the eagle may have been replaced but is an original eagle. Most eagles are replaced on tunics, probably more than 50% I think you are getting a fair deal. Waffenrocks are very expensive and difficult to fake aside from the crappy Asian copies. The main question is as always when the insignia was applied and if it was replaced.

Yeah i see this debates a lot. Fortunately i'm easy going and practical
I don't care much, as long as insignia are originals.

It is for an interesting unit also, later a Jager Rgt with the 5th Light Division (the symbol is also Fred's Avatar). I have a Stabsfeldwebel waffenrock for this unit.

                  ......

When it comes to price on Waffenrocks, like most everything in collecting, the "devil is in the details". My first impression, when I saw this one the e-stand, was this was a bargain price. I still believe that to be true. You have also heard from some guys whose opinion I respect and help others on this Forum most every day.

Below, is an image of a Waffenrock I sold last year to a member here for the advertised price -- around $1,200. The awards and belt were not included. The "details" that made it worth more, in my view, were as follows:

Tailor label present (Traugott Rahne in Hannover -- a superb tailor)
                  Nametag present
                  Eagle not replaced
                  77th Infantry Regiment
                  Badge and Award Loops

It had some minor mothing but looks very good on a torso form with awards placed in the sets of loops that are present on the tunic. I did not research the Officer but that could yield some further details of interest. A recent Waffenrock purchase of mine was named to an Oberst who has a 275 page file in the NARA which I hope to get sometime soon. So this is also a consideration. I don't like those labels stripped out as was the case with the Waffenrock featured here.

The eagle on the Waffenrock you presented is most certainly replaced. On the other hand, there seems to be no moth damage.

As Johnny said, these are just not faked, though there is some Asian garbage on eBay which you could spot 10 kilometers away. What you must worry about are those other factors I mentioned.

Again, it is all in the details which all impact the price.

                  Best of luck,

                  Mike

Hey Mike, nice to hear from you again. I have no idea why someone would take off the label. I'm very happy with my purchase. It's my first tunic i hope the next one to be a nice infantry M36.

Labels sewn in that location often caught on shirts and pulled loose then were removed.

I love it when someone has the ARTILLERY on their mind. That RED PIPING pops on a tunic. That's why we are the KING of BATTLE. Please excuse my flashbacks.

I was 13B as well. My favorite is when Artillery is not considered a front line service etc. The German Vets I talked to spent half their time stopping breakthroughs fighting as infantry and destroying loose T-34s.

Funny that an infantry tunic thread turns into a Artillery reunion! 13B4H. WE bring the balls to the Queen!

Now,.... you BOTH know what's going to this thread when the treadheads and grunts read this. I guess the MODs will shut this down, once the other branches add their 2 cents.
