    Beginners Books

Are there any books out there dealing with insignia suitable for a beginner to the area. I am specifically looking for information on breast eagles.

The best book to start are oldies but a goodie by Brian Davis- here they are on amazon UK.

You can actually find a lot of information from this site just by using the search tool.

There are other books that deal with more specific topics. One I can recommend is by as John Cleese (tall person) would say- a very silly French person who is member of this forum-

Why don't you start with the book we all learned from? It's Brian L. Davis' "German Army Uniforms and insignia", almost 40 years old but still kind of a 'bible' to many collectors. You can still find it (reprint) for around 20 euros or less.

                Vorsprung durch Technik...

BTW, 'Feldbluse' would have been my second advice too...

Yes, I heard the guy Jean is addicted to soft cheeses but I guess he is okay.

There are a few copies of the German Army Uniforms and Insignia on Amazon but for some reason I cant get one shipped to Ireland! I tried the 1st 5 sellers, I usually have no problem with amazon. If I am specifically looking for breast eagles would the Feldbluse book be better or should I persevere and try for a copy of the uniform book.
Thanks for all the quick replies.

You need to pick a branch of service when you say breast eagles, for Army the Feldbluse book is best and I heard it comes with a complementary small wheel of Brie now and a beret.

Army is my area of interest, I ordered the feldbluse book. Thanks for that, I'll have a good look through that thread over the next few days aswell. Cheers everyone. My wife will enjoy the brie, it will take her mind off me buying yet another German related book, the words "obsessed", "addicted", "problem" etc have been thrown around our house quite a bit over the last few months!

I have a copy of Davis' book in very good condition that I can ship to you. Please send me a PM to arrange this. Can't 'sell' via these posts.

                            Greetings,
