Piped Panzer Wrap for Study

I wish I had a sexier punchline. It is being offered by an older collector moving several pieces and has been in his collection for some time.

Bridles are too small for the boards, and they are odd ones. Let's err on the side of caution and say they're bad.

Any thoughts on the skulls? From the one shot it looks like one has a broken prong and the remaining prong is bent.

The older collector and old collection are not too useful. Not speaking to this jacket specifically but they were making things equal to this in tailoring and technique piecemeal in the later 1970s and decent quality fakes started falling out of trees in the 1980s.

Didn't mean to imply the time in a collection meant it was good. I know people can use that to make themselves feel better about a bad piece.

No worries, I like hearing that line at shows. 90% of the time all it really means is:

older collection = older fake

The other one I love is "Late War" or "Late War variation" which is indeed really really late War usually, around 1985.

These new photos make it hard to find any redeeming qualities about this wrap. Your photos with the wrap in hand are quite telling I believe.

It does appear to be a ground up fake and I would put no faith in any of its parts or pieces. It seems that whoever made this piece thought by using different materials it would imitate those wraps where various scrap materials are used where they can be incorporated.

For education sake could you take a couple more shots like these?

I see the issues now. For a second with the different material lining it I thought it was tailored. The whole belt hook area is a dog's breakfast. 10 foot pole time to push this baby away!

They did not have an industrial machine and could not sew through the web and the fabric. I bet the kitchen tables was a' rockin' They had to change thread or tried it again with a different machine. Sounded something like this MMMmmmmmmmmwuwuwuwuwuwuneeeeee and then the needle stopped. The OD fabric IMO is modern also. 1980s Wolfram Diebel pyrite.

Please search online and try to find a sound bit that can properly demonstrate that sound. I keep trying to do it as I'm reading, but have no way of knowing if I'm getting it right.

I especially like the hand stitched belt hook holes for that nice tailored touch!

It probably looked and sounded something like this but you need to add the Wife screaming in a Bavarian accent about smoke coming up the stairs for the full effect.

I can see it now, these later photos are clear as day light. Yep, I know what a sewing machine does when it can't go any longer, thread keeps on braking and finally the needle bends or brakes. The hook holes are very obvious also.

This wrap shows a mix of early and late war features, is well made but is always a fake easily detectable in my opinion.

I think the green materials are a synthetic mix fabric as well. They "shine" like poly cotton blends, maybe post War uniform BW or US OD cloth
