Having never owned one of these, my opinion is only based on images of 'real' examples, and this does not match any I remember seeing, so I think it is a copy that has been aged, though this is only my opinion and might not be worth listening to, as sometimes my opinion is incorrect.

The one that started this thread is bad, the 2nd one is a fine original. I have the pleasure of owning 2 of these wonderful badges and have own 4 not counting the one that was lost in the german mail when it hit the us
