    What are these soldiers wearing on their brests?

    ??? I guess it was used to protect uniform.

    Either they are messy eaters or it is just for rifle drill practice. Nice to see that all the rifles have the metal muzzle covers attached.

      Greetings All,

      Aren't these numbered vests? I thought these were used by soldiers when they were in training ,usually sport, and had a number on the back.

        Odd pic, as they mostly look to be older soldiers. No idea on the bibs though.

                  Whatever those bibs are I don't know but I do know that based on the uniforms and hats

                      I would imagine they are used to identify training groups one from another and tactical exercises... Billbert

                        It is Kriegsmarine Breast protector ( brustschoner) as "Torpedomaat" said. This carment is explained in Angolia/Schlicht book " die kriegsmarine vol.3 " by Bender publ. It is used to prevent soiling of uniforms at drill or exercises.
