    Panzer Waffenrock 67

I thought I'd post some new photos of my new tunic, which i bought from the estand. It was a pleasant transaction, and i am very happy with the tunic. Thanks Tony.

A nice private purchase tunic, with padded collar tabs, and padded body.

The shoulder boards have metal wire inside to stiffen them.

Has a tailors label inside, and the soldiers name tag.

The unit mark is just visible and reads 'Gepruft 2./Pz.Rgt.8'.

Hope you like it as much as i do.

I thought I'd take some photos of this tunic, and a panzer schutze waffenrock i have.

These are made virtually indentical, with the same materials, and padding.

This schutze tunic also has a tailors label, name tag, and unit mark.

I think they look great together!

Can anyone read either names, and is it possible to find anything about these men, though not being officers i presume this is doubtful?

Anyway, hope you like both tunics!

    Lewis

          Thanks for the reply Naxos.

The 'V' above the 'X', looks almost like the lower tail of the letter above. It seems to match up with it perfectly...so I'm not sure if that last letter is a 'y'.

Also looking closer, the '9' looks like it could be a '0', you can just make out a light curve on the left side.

Heres a scan..though its not much clearer.

              And the date? 20/12/37?

what do you think the big Z is for?

Date is hard to decipher - it is either VII or XII for the month - The year is for sure 1937. I wouldn't worry about the day.

The "Z" like character after the name must be some tailors mark.

There are 13 soldiers by that name listed on the German War Grave site. Three of them are possible fits.

Here is the one that could be him:

                  Nachname: Görner

                  Vorname: Heinz

                  Dienstgrad: Unteroffizier

                  Geburtsdatum: 05.03.1915

                  Geburtsort: Weißenborn

                  Todes-/Vermisstendatum: 21.12.1942

                  Todesort: Wjasma

The age and rank fits and SR1 was in the vicinity of Wjasma during Dec 1942
and to support the probability: Gera (where the Rock was tailored) is only 20 km from the Unteroffiziers hometown of Weißenborn.

                    Thanks again Naxos, very interesting.

So this chap could have died in Russia during 1942?

Sort of brings home the reality that the tunic actually belonged to someone real.

Thanks again for all the help.

I live for 40 years in Stuttgart and directly towards from myself was the tailoring Losberger. She has closed in 2003 and at that time I could still protect some stocks from the good old time for myself.

There still approx. 10 metres of field-grey material for these weapon skirts were present!

Captain336, i did wonder how many of these tailors still exist, and if any them still carry old stock.

I wonder how many collectors have done a search of still existing tailors.

                            My suggestion:
The initial letter of the surname is a B: Heinz Börner
                            See: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deutsche_Kurrentschrift

There are 25 Heinz Börner among the KIAs of German war grave site.
