    Replaced collar patches?

    Hi

It is always a shame to get in contact with an altered tunic. The tunic is nice and the insignia show symetrical age on the shoulder and collar boards. The tunic has a tailor patch and it is named. to a ist LT. The problem is that the collar patches although tigh on the collar does not appear to have evidence of being machine sewn. I think they may had replaced the whole collar as I do not see evidence of traces of previous stitching.
The shoulder boards are tight and I do not think they had been replaced.

The tunic is definatedly WWII private purchase.

    thanks to all

    Juan

Juan - the stitching of the collar tabs is certainly not up to the standards of a tailor. However, like you, I see no evidence of any previous stitching. The boards and everything else look original to me. The obverse of the collar tabs look very good - if they are replaced I'd consider it a very nice restoration. Overall a very nice named tunic. Damn sure a keeper in my book.
