    madandi,

Very poorly formed head, wide "spaces" between the segments, and fake rubber stamp mark all say BAD (Reproduction) to me.....

I'm sure some small variations in size could occur amoung differant styles and manurfactures.......but this bevo eagle has too many inconsistancies for my taste....

I have the same concerns about this eagle, but the material is correct.
Then there is a variation on the size of the eagle, it must be an other maker.
All other eagle that i ever had were the standard ones in size and look.
It is possible that a other maker has a different style. Perhaps, but i don´t know for sure.
I got this eagle form the estand, so i would really know for sure if it is good or not.
The same at the tropical side-cap eagle.

I have also an eagle which i believed to be fake because of the size

The SA or NSDAP stamp and the lack of detail as noted and misshapen wreath would be enough for me to walk away.

            Hi Madandi,

            Playng the devils advocate here,

Im a bit torn on this one,the construction looks good as the materials do.

There is a variation in sizes for breast eagles, as there is for cap eagles.Lots of threads on here to attest to that, as well as period pics..Size is not a determining factor here.

As for the stamp on the rear, it looks like an embellishment done post war to enhance buyer appeal dont think this has anything to do with the piece itself being original.

Head and wreath shape may be the determining factors here but the head shape
is still consistent with some originals.Wreath may be out of shape but that could poor handling and storage.

The segment spacing is consistent with mid to late war eagles. No concern for me there.

Have you burn tested and blacklighted it ?

            regards KK

It looks fine to me - except for the stamp applied by some idiot postwar. There seems to be quite a bit of variation in these. I've never seen a copy that was even close.

From whom did you get it?

The only thing i really don´t like is the mismatched head. The bogus-stamp, the oversize are no problems for me and i like the rest of construction and the materials.

Of course the seller will take it back if i want this, but i´m really not sure. I don´t want to have a fake in my collection, but i love to have original variants in it.
                  So what is to do?

                      re

IMO the eagle is a nice original one
There where many many factory,s that made this kind of eagle
So it is not so odd to see some variations in size shape head body etc etc

                      Here are some M42-43/44 eagle,s

Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

                            Green?

They look to be the perfect shade of feldgrau for the period of manufacture on my monitor. They are also a pefect study of the variation of eagles heads.

As for the original eagle posted, the more i study it , the more i feel it is original.
