Hello again,
Some observations about this tunic, which has a few repairs. The shoulder boards appear to be matched and worn as the colors of the wool change and are faded. The shoulder board buttons are marked F. & Co. along with the FCL logo. There is an award on the breast pocket but with a hole above the bottom loop (my theory is that the badge was ripped off the tunic, perhaps during surrender and took the top loops with it thus creating the hole) The main buttons are mismatched (one being marked "R" four are "A&S" marked, one is B J 41 marked ) Three of the pocket buttons are marked with an "A" and the last one looks like T. S. The stampings inside are hard to make out, and on the right side the row at the top is *65, 44 under that, and 59 on the bottom. On the left bottom there is a 67 and that's all I can make out.......what do these stampings mean?

The stampings are size markings for the tunic,....chest size,length etc.

Nice original tunic with replaced insignia. I agree, Italian wool. I think the belt hooks are likely postwar, I haven't seen wartime hooks in brass.Comment

Agreed. The belt hooks appear to be wartime US ones, added postwar. US 4 Pocket dress tunics had 2 brass belt hooks.Originally posted by Chris Pittman View PostComment

Nice, salty tunic with replaced insignia. IMO The shoulder straps look like bad reproductions.
