Glass uniform buttons

Hello,
I just wanted to see if anyone had ever observed glass buttons like these on tunics. The first ones were ground dug in Gablonz, while the latter undug ones were found in Gablonz as well. These are all Kriegsmarine, though I have a completed but broken green pebbled one that would have worked on Heer tunics as well. I assume these were an attempt to use glass and conserve metal for war usage, but I've never seen them used so not sure if it was a success or not.

yes nice, I have KM glass buttons such as these from a shipwreck on the ocean floor. Same brownish glass.

I have these too , KM made of glass with a golden paint on them and from JFS as well . I do believe that these were indeed a trial experiment around 1942 , since JFS did also made resin buttons ( green and white) which are found on winter padded uniforms .
Would have made sense to use these in the Km .
