Trapazoid

A friend at work showed me this and asked me what it was. I believe it is a trapazoid for a hat but this is not my area. What say yea?

I do not care for this trapazoid at all. The black threads are the highlights, there are no true highlights or different embroidery. I do not like the backing either.
