      oh, just speculation because the quality of the material and the look of these pieces with the satin sheen reminds me of cuff-titles, really something not brought out in the above photos,

        I recently bought the book "Hitler's Last Levy - The Volkssturm 1944-45," by Hans Kissel. On page 104 there is a photo of Kreisleiter Meil wearing a VS armband which
        appears to have the sheen and stiffness of a woven example discussed here.

        Please excuse the rough scan of the photo (it's a bit clearer in the book) but here is perhaps a record of these rare armbands being worn?

            There was a great thread on these on WRF, where a member discovered the type style used on these bands had not been designed until the 80's. Have since tried finding the thread, and the post was deleted from the thread for whatever reason.
