Oberst Shoulder Boards ? with missing pips

    Hello there.
Ive got my hands on probably two Oberst (Colonel) Shoulder Boards. Im not sure if there from a Oberst, it was quite hard to find anything about them.
I would be more then happy to here some opinions or even interests

As you can see on the pictures there two pips missing on each board.....

    thanks a lot

    Timo

With the pips they would be for an Army Infantry Oberst. I cannot tell from the photos but this type of splatter like this is often from artifical aging, they may of course be real but the clean clear pip ghosts are a little trick used on some aged fakes. I also cannot see where the pins left impressions on the bases.

They may be real but if you got them for a couple Euros and they were in the Military section and not mislisted under Pet supplies as cat tongue depressers that suggests others thought the way I did as well. The pip holes look like they were made with a nail and a hammer on wood?

No they were in the Groundfind...blabla category

They also dont smell pretty old....
But at the back they look like there where pips in for quite a while.....

          Im kind of confused now

Can you post better pictures of the material the white part is made of. As I said they may be real but they also look like typical aged fake junk at European flea markets, appearence and smell are the two worse judges of originality and the easiest illusions to create.

Now to me it looks more like mildew staining, unser alter Freund Herr Mehltau

The wool is woven so that is a good sign.

I like the boards and have no problem with them
