Dirk,
The near mint blue LW Tropenhelm I have examined and photographed was not dated but the sweat band was ink stamped 'Carl Halfar Berlin N 20' and this same ink stamp is in one of my Heer tropical M40 field caps that is dated '42.'
I've tried posting a scanned photo of the Italian officer's Tropenhelm I mentioned earlier as this type shows up frequently in photos of LW officers in N. Africa but have had no luck attaching it here.

OK,here's some shots of the shirt eagle,the shirt special button closure,that's why on one side the buttonholes are vertical and on the other side horizontal !
In many cases this piece of cloth is missing and people ask themselves:"Why are the buttonholes both sides different"?
Then we have a close up of a nickel B&NL buckle and at last the Observer standing next to my Stuka Major.
