    My restored m40 your thoughts?

    Gentlemen,
This is an M40 tunic I restored a while back. I still need the right shoulder boards for it. If you would tell me your thoughts on the rest.
    Thanks,
    DB

It looks nice, the eagle patina matches the jacket. Boards are the easy part. Nice to see care taken to restore tunics

Thanks John as I recall you helped me through this process initially. The insignia I got on their In your opinion is good to go for the type of jacket? Especially the litzen...

That type of tunic is found with those tabs, the general rule is everything later can be worn with anything earlier but some combinations and factory applications are more common. When I restore I try to figure out what was there originally. If there are ghosts of tabs with backings I would mount universals on dark green or litzen with piping etc. The hardest part is always the eagle. With the staining around there it look like you found a good one to use that is not mint unissued etc.

Beleive it or not the eagle and the wound badge came out of a vets tackle box. I have no idea who the vet was as it was an auction but sure is a weird place for the two items. Would of been great to hear the story behind them. Your right though I got lucky on the bird it was used and salty just like that m40.

Bravo DB! I think You have done a wonderfull job as said by adding worn items to a veteran Tunic!!! Collar Tabs look great and I for one would like to see close ups of them front and under collar side!

Great Job! This would really scream kitted out on display!

            Cheers!
