    M43 Cavalry GJ jacket

Hi, I would like to have your opinions about this M43 Gebirgsjaeger Cavalry jacket. Please find some close ups of the shoulder boards, collar, collar tresse, breast eagle and GJ insignia.
IMO collar and eagle early version modified, but period done.

    Thx

The sleeve insignia is for Jäger, not GJ. Not sure of the combination Jäger with cavalry piping...I'll let others comment on that. The tunic itself looks original with modified collar, cut-down length and embroidered eagle.

It does not prove the insignia is originally applied etc. but the combination could be possible with a Recce unit under a Jager division, Aufklärungs-Abteilung 5 of the 5th Jager divsion was developed from 18 Kav etc. Interesting tunic.

I thought that embroidered jager patches have white veins in the leaves and a brown stem/branch like this one..... Is the one on the tunic a variation?

                          Greetings All,

I am not really a tunic guy but love the insignia. I really like the way the collar tabs were enhanced with yellow piping put through them. A very nice early embroidered eagle and a nice ,but plain, variation sleeve patch.

I like the combinationof the modified tunic with early style collar and early style insignia.

                          Fred

Both Jäger and Gebirgsjäger had mounted recce elements within their divisions.
