Hi Collectors,

Just picked this up for a new display I'm working on, interesting to note that although I'm 100% sure its totally original it glows under UV light..

My best guess is that indeed it has been washed, perhaps recently? but still IMO very nice indeed!!

Is not rare that KM white garmets glow under black light, the products used for washing has this effect.

One small hitch the cap cover doesn't fit. My cap says 53 and the cover 54, I assumed this would fit but it is too small, have I missed something there in regards to sizing?

I will have to see if I can return it for a larger size which they did have in their inventory.

BTW - although the shirt isn't a signal matrose, my new display will be a Collani with obergefrieter Signal specialist so if anyone has the round signals in blue blacking and a nice double V gold chevron also on blue backing for sale please let me know.

Justin, is not rare that the top doesn't match with the cap, usually white garment used on ships were washing very hard and they have shrunk. some times very much.

Sorry no signals white carrer badge, and I have some chevrons but I don't know if there is any double, I will check latter at home.

Since the cap did not go with set, I see no problem not to change it out for another one. However, these tagged caps are not that common and it was also not uncommon for the cap covers to be used by other sailors on the ship. As I understand it, when a sailor was discharged, he could sell his uniforms to other sailors. So sometimes mismatched tags are not a sign of a mixed uniform necessarily.

So I would get the bigger cap cover to go on your frame and maybe keep this also.
