    Penal battalion question

Does anyone knows what the regulations was in the penal batallions regarding the wear of rank insignia, ribbons, awards or campaign shield together with the neutral grey piped shoulder straps. Any assistance would be highly appreciated.

Penal battalion is sort of a blanket term- there were many different types of punishment units, see the third post- They all seem to have different regulations and some were at Divison level etc.

            Penal battalion question

            Hello,

Yes, there were diffrences in the dress of men from the 999 Le. Afrika Regiment 961 and 962. Will attempt to find a reference book and post photos.

            Best Wishes,

            C.

Are you just looking for Heer Penal regs or Luftwaffe?

Thank you for the replies. Still not clear on what was allowed to be worn and what not. It seems that all insignia was removed in the DAK example. Paul, I guess the principle between Heer and Luft would be quite similar. Please share information if you have. Jacques
