Splinter camo tunic Q

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum......
What was the extent of use of field made camo tunics in the Heer?
What areas of operations would one expect to see one plausibly? What kind of troops would go through the trouble.......recon or the sort?
I bought a repro M43 pattern splinter A tunic on ebay for cheap, now I'm trying to figure out what kind of insignia I should get.

There were worn in the east and the west more commonly as the War progressed. Front troops wore them but as per norm so did stylish individuals of the rear. You can put any insignia on it you want but many times they were worn with none or just eagle and or only shoulder boards.
