    Unusual Book Mark

I had to go to my local VA yesterday mainly for my son, who just got back from Afganistan and just was discharged after 5 years. As usual, a couple of appointments in the morning then come back at 1400 hrs. We went to an early lunch then hit a few antique and junk shops in the area, a local museum, then a few more shops. At one of the shops I ended up asking if they had anything military and the owner started to say no the stopped and said hang on I forgot it in the car. He came back with this booklet, "A SPIRITUAL ALMINAC FOR SERVICEMEN" dated 1943. He explained that a local man whom he knew had brought it in with numerous other items, incuding a purple heart, that belonged to his father and wanted to sell them. He ended up buying this but told him to keep his dad's medal, etc.. after the guy left, the owner called the mans sister and she is going through the rest of the items and will bring in what the family doesn't want.
Anyway it had a real weird bookmark in it for being a church book. Here are some pics.

The tropical cap eagle looks very nice. My Dad did the same thing with RM notes.
