    What is this shoulder board?

First of all, I did read the pinned article about the shoulder boards, but could not find an answer there. So proceeding with a question here:

What is thi shoulder board? German /3 Reich/ or East German? What units used them? The base is cardboard, it has been covered with white cloth, but the moths left almost none of it. Thanks in advance for ideas about this piece!

A bad picture of the back. By the way the upper part is made of shiny /aluminum????/ wire-thread...or something... Anyway, here's the back:

It's an officer's board, I don't know by that blurry pic if the pip and board are era or post-war, but it is for Infantry.

That type of pip is used to denote rank

Looks like the thin "wire" prongs of a DDR pip, but that still doesn't help with the board, which could have been "improved."

The fact that there are two "empty" pip holes side by side down near the shoulder seam makes me think this was a DDR Oberst.

Arrest those winged insects for damage to State property! Saboteurs!

The backing material and construction method is a dead ringer for a DDR board. I picked up some NCO and Officer DDR straps and boards right after the wall came tumbling down to compare with Third Reich stuff. Yours is definitely DDR.

Arrest? No, they will be arrested if this was Satate property... But it is My property, and I do not arrest moths, I usually mas murder them! This is war and I tak no prisioners
