This is also a good example of how dyes change over time. I suspect when it was made all the fabric was a perfect match in color. I wish i could get some of the stuff back I sold when I was younger and dumb, I do not like to think about it, you are lucky you got it back

It looks like the extra buttonholes have been rewoven or least sewn shut. Very nicely done. As Johnny mentions, the pockets probably more closely matched in color in 1945 and when worn with a belt it probably looked very convincingly like an as-made officer's service tunic. I like these conversions!
