    a Panzer NCO board....

    Hi guys,

This has been labeled a Hauptfeldwebel board to a Panzerjager unit. Haven't seen the 3 pips before. This correct? Having trouble finding reference on this particular arrangement.

    Cheers

Yes, this would be for a Staff Sgt. Major. Stabsfeldwebel.

        Mark,

I'm sure you already took into account that the green backed boards are/were occasionally found on black wraps...but it is not a common occurrence. The green backed boards are worth quite a bit less than all black boards made for a panzer wrap. Hopefully you took that into consideration when purchasing the wrap. I would be much more concerned about that, than the rank itself which is O.K.

            Hi Richard,

yes I did notice that and at the same time I know who it came from so this fact put my mind at ease.

Will send better pics when I have it in my hands. Thanks aguys.

He may have started the War in a horse drawn PAK unit and ended up in a Nashorn, I would not have a problem with this at all.

                Johnny,

The only reason I even brought it up was when some people are restoring wraps they don't want to spend 5X more for panzer boards. I'm not taking anything into consideration except the one photo displayed. I remember the wrap was for sale but did not look it up and I don't recall who is selling it. Just as fakers use fake insignia on really expensive uniforms that might fool some one, except they did not want to spend 5K for original insignia and preferred to take their chances with 100% bogus material. Some who restore uniforms to sell them, cut many corners knowing they are going to sell it when done, so why spend big bucks on proper insignia. If there is a photo of the original owner wearing it in this fashion then you have a real gem. If not you may have a hard time when you go to sell or trade.

I think these boards would be much more likely on a stug wrap, since most black wraps came with boards that could be converted to any rank. Just trying to post some buying tips, not trying to start an attack on anyone's reputation.

                Richard

You are thinking in a different direction and about totally other things than I was, I was only stating it was not a problem or surprise to see a early war green board on a wrap especially to a high ranking NCO in a PAK unit. All we are seeing in the thread is the board. If everything else checks out, the green boards are IMO not a problem.
