The Dry Cleaner Question

I am considering buying an NCO's Waffenrock. It's only real problem that I don't like is that it's dirty around the buttons and collar. Can this be taken to the cleaners? I appreciate all advise. Thanks, Rick

You can do searches on the forum for lengthy threads about cleaning and dry cleaning.

From my own experince, wool combat type tunics and trousers are ok. However, I would not (or I would be reluctant) to dry clean something with all that tress. It could unravel or bend wire thread (like that on an officer's shoulder boards).

I have done it without problems on solid insignia. If there are any problems with loose emmbroidery you need to be careful. The main thing is to take it to someone who knows what they are doing. I would use this a cleaner that uses these products. One other thing to think about in advance as well is what the cleaners reaction may be to a swastika.

This has links to at least two of the larger threads, the name tag/ink issue is brought up and that is the main concern. If the wool is failing or worn I would not dry clean it or you will most likely end up with a new hole. Good luck, if you do it post before and after pictures please.
