    Heer Helferin Uniform, authentic?

    Hey folks,
Of late i've been collecting a few female items, wac, waves etc. Mainly things the girlfriend can wear to dance etc.
She decided she wanted a Helferin uniform so i was going to buy one of the chinese repros currently on ebay, when this came up at a local auction house.

I'm in two minds about it, certain things say repro to me, but the label, the quality and the quality of the insignia say original. It doesn't bear the makers label which is in the current, and only?, repro heer helferin uniforms. Anyway, opinions would be greatly appreciated.

    Greetings Snorky,

I am not a uniform collector by any means but can comment on the originality of the insignia.

The breast eagle is an original 2nd pattern Heer enlisted eagle. The placement of the eagle looks correct.Angolia states that the eagle should be a white on black eagle and yours appears to be a white on dark green

The signal blitz should be piped in a yellow cord and not a silver cord. The chevron is a Heer chevron. The Nachrichten did not use this rank insignia.

The insignia looks original ,but I pesonally do not believe that it came with this uniform. IMHO.

Helferinnen didn't wear the rank insignia of their male counterparts. The chevron isn't right on this female uniform. I think the insignia were all applied long after the war ...

Good uniform to me....and most likely unissued hence the paper tag and later
(post war) "completed" with original insignia.

The chevron is indeed male and inaccurate...that needs to come off.
The blitz with the silver piping (instead of yellow) would not be a big concern
for me, call it a preferential upgrade...

And here's one with silver piping on the collar
(compliments the silver piping on the blitz oval!)
Looks like a finer gabardine wool here... and bullion eagle?

Thanks for all of the infomation, it's really helpful.
What would be the correct insignia? For what I presume would be an officer, from the silver piping?

Also, in the very first photo in the following thread:http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=122829
Am I wrong or do the rank cheverons worn by this "blitzmaiden" appear to be the mens too?

            Cheers
            Jon

              Greetings Snorky,

The Nachrichtenhelferin had a rank system all of their own with chevrons and collar piping. Who ever made up this tunic wanted it to be a NH-Hauptfuehrerin The insignia consisted ofouble chevron with one aluminum colored pip; and a 3mm aluminum cord on the cap, greatcoat, blouse, work smock and the oval blitz. The chevron is still incorrect as it is an example of a Heer chevron.

I was incorrect about the blitz in my first post. At this rank it should be piped in silver piping. Is this a 3mm aluminum piping?

Right! Okay, so hmm yeah errrr, what would be the best thing to do?

If it were yours how would you go about making it correct?

I'm really out of my depth here, my thing is French Indochina.

Thank You for all of your help so far.

Oh also, the cord on the cap is 1.5 mm and around the collar is 3mm.

I would research it before doing anything, it look like it may be real. Try to track this down-

                    http://www.buch-arsenal.de/assets/s2...zmaedchen.html

If I remember correctly it was published in English as well. The Angolia/Schlicht books discuss this too.

                        Greetings All,

The information that I have given out comes directly from the Angolia/Schlicht ,3 Vol. Heer series.

If this is for "nachtrichtenhelferin" that piping is just as likely yellow; and I believe normally the hats had yellow piping and a special style of signal blitz on the left side.

                            Greetings All,

Angolia lists the Nachrichtenhelferin ranks in Vol 2 of Uniforms and Traditions. The collar and hat piping changed in the progression of rank. They also used a smaller blitz on the side of the cap, as Bryan said, either woven or BeVo.

Thanks for that, unfortunately I don't have that book, and at the moment cannot get my hands on it.
Would you possibly be able to quickly describe the lowest correct rank insignia to match the piping on this uniform? I'll even give you a party hat to say thanks, see there's you in your party hat ---->
