    Medical Boards

These came with the tabs I posted, they are on buckram or buckram-like bodies and are unused. The green is an unusual color to see. As with the tabs does anyone know any new manufactures?

              Hi John,

do all the items come from the same source? To me the strap with the number 3, looks like a great example of a 'private purchase' one.

                Greetings All,

Tony I agree with you 100%. The tabs are very weird to me though!

They came together but were both tacked on a poorly restored officers tunic (with polyester thread) so they may have been together and then used in a restoration attempt etc.

                    Medical straps

I can't comment on the tabs; but, the straps are beautiful examples of private purchase pieces. Each tailor seem to add a little of their own "style" to these pieces. Some of the most beautiful medical straps have the blue "picked out" with grey thread. This is done much the same way as pionier straps.

Thanks G, is the color of wool body unusual to see? I was thinking circa 1925?

Really cool waffenroch shoulder straps. Definitely private purchase. I have never seen any tabs like that either... wartime or postwar.

Thanks, I think these are RH era, 1920s etc. before WH. They are a lighter bright green not like WH badge cloth.

                            Johnny,

With the boards being a quality tailored set, I would assume the same tailor made the tabs to go with the boards. They are definitely the same quality of workmanship so I don't see anything wrong with a capable tailor whipping out a set of tabs to match. Very attractive set.

                              Greetings All,

The problem that I see with the tabs being made by the same tailor is the lack of detail. If they were RH era tabs I believe that the tabs would have the standard medical blue waffenfarbe stripes. The tabs that we are looking at resemble the 1938 pattern of generic tabs of green on grey.
The quality is there but not the detail of the insignia compared to the fantastic execution of the # 3 on the shoulder boards. IMHO.
